Job Description

Lutheran Family & Children's Services of Missouri is seeking a compassionate professional that wants to make a positive impact on the youth of our community. The Lifeskills Facilitator will implement and facilitate the Project STEP-UP Program. This program helps youth develop and improve important life-skills including leadership, character development and problem-solving. This position is part-time and will work 20 hours per week. Duties include: Recruiting, enrolling and conducting pre-assessments for potential participants. Implementing the Botivin Lifeskills to youth in group settings. Establish personal and program goals with participating youth and providing follow-up coaching. Establish and maintain effective contact and communication with parents, schools and other stakeholders involved with participants. Maintaining and keeping current records documenting activities, youth assessments, behavioral interventions, services rendered to youth and parents and all other data required for program evaluation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or other related field. Two or more years of experience working with youth at different developmental stages. Knowledge and Skills: Established social work practices. Knowledge of and understanding of the best practices for youth development and best practice model interventions. Code of Ethics; youth assessments. Effective facilitation or presentation skills. Strong written and verbal communication and time management skills. Self-motivational and self-management skills. Ability to function as a part of a team. Be able to follow supervisory recommendations and program procedures. Ability to work appropriately with children and respond positively to their parents. Ability to maintain order in the group setting. Must have strong computer skills. Must be a licensed driver with access to a reliable automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk, jump, and skip. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to fingers; handle or feel object, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; climb up to 5 feet; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift up to 34 pounds and carry up to 34 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to access, enter, modify, and retrieve data on a personal computer. The employee is also required to read, write and speak the English language.
