Lutheran Family & Children's Services of Missouri is seeking a Development Officer. This position will implement development efforts to raise money supporting the major gift, planned giving and tax credit efforts for assigned prospects in the St. Louis area in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Major and Planned Gifts.
Duties include:
Manage and implement identification and engagement strategies for assigned major gift donors and prospects.
Manage and implement identification and engagement strategies for assigned tax credit donors and prospective tax credit donors.
Manage and implement identification and engagement strategies for assigned planned giving donors and prospects.
Understand and integrate individual development efforts with the Foundation Annual Plan, the Agency mission, and projects and prospects for specific programs.
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related field required or six years of direct sales or development experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to build relationships with donors and volunteers. Ability to directly solicit funds from individual donors, work with volunteer committees, and motivate others to support LFCS. Ability to collaborate with Foundation and Agency staff. Skills in effectively managing multiple projects and activities with clearly defined deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present eloquently to groups. Knowledge of fundraising principles and ethical standards. Knowledge of major gift solicitation. Computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Office software programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Experience with donor database software.
